Settling Down

Well things are starting to slow down here at the Fowler apartment. Things are  in place and we are starting to enjoy our new environment. This last Friday I treated myself to a haircut and my very first weave! I went to the nearby beauty school and got it all done for more than half the price then a normal salon. There's also a nearby massage school. Hmmm a discounted massage in the future, maybe?

Mark is already hitting the books for this semester and working hard at finishing his online history class. Since we are on the subject of school, Mark and I took a self guided tour through the BYU campus. What a beautiful campus it is! The landscaping was lovely and their library was just so spacious and beautiful. Mark showed me the places he spends most of his time while on campus. The following morning, which was a Saturday, Mark took me to a BYU Women's volleyball game and we felt some school spirit!

Other than that we have had a couple movie nights and we have gotten into an awesome scripture reading habit followed by some fun reading right after. Right now we are reading American History Stories...You Never Read in School...but should have. Great book it's really interesting and we have learned so much already.

We attended out first Sunday with our new ward! Mark and I just love the people already. (Lots of babies to watch and giggle with.) There also many newlyweds so we are hoping to spark some friendships with the others. It's really exciting to be in a family ward with all the people our age.   Well Mark and I are looking forward to this week with school starting and job hunting!

Our New Home: UTAH

Well Mark and I drove up to Provo ,Utah on August 19th. We got the keys to our new apartment at Wymount Terrrace! It's BYU student family housing, so we are right next to BYU. That's really nice considering we only have one car. We got set up in a two bedroom apartment with a large family room. We slept on an air mattress that evening and the following day my parents, brother and sister all came up with a trailer full of our stuff. We started moving in with the help of past Elders from Simi Valley (Elder Blanchard & Elder Hixon) and help from our new neighbors(which we love!).

My family stayed with us in our small apartment for a few days. We unpacked and started to make our apartment all homey. We hung drapes and pictures, stocked the pantry and refrigerator and on and on...

On Tuesday we left to go to the LDS Welfare Square in Salt Lake. (This is a must see if your ever in Utah!) We took a tour through the thrift store, business offices, cannery and dairy factories. It is AMAZING how much the church gives. It is very true that Heavenly Father takes care of our spiritual and physical needs. This experience really humbled me with all its volunteers and contributions the church gives not to just the USA but to the WHOLE world. We then continued up to temple square. We ate at the Copper Onion for lunch and it was delicious. At temple square we visited the conference center and walked the grounds of the Salt Lake Temple. We went into the Beehive House, which was the home of Brigham Young who was not just the Prophet but also the Governor of Utah in his time. Loved his home! The architecture and furniture where all so beautiful.

Well its Thursday and my family just left to go back to California just a few minutes ago. I already miss them, but this is a new and exciting adventure for Mark and I. At least my brother cooper is just around the corner. He is attending his freshmen year at BYU. I'll miss home but I know that Mark and I will find wonderful and lifelong friends while living here.
